Author Interview: Bre Rose

Tell us about yourself.

I write under the pen name Bre Rose. I’m from North Carolina born and raised, but I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to live and travel not only in multiple states in the continental US but also to travel and live in Germany. I have three boys, two of which are grown and out of the home, and the third who is my forever child as he requires round-the-clock care due to medical issues and disabilities. I am a medical professional; I do physical therapy though pediatrics, where I specialize. I am a firm supporter and advocate for the differently abled. Something interesting about me is that I’m ambidextrous. I can understand a couple of languages, even write one of them, but I’m terrible at speaking them. I have an excruciating fear of open heights and going over large bridges over open water. I released my first book in December of 2021. If not for the amazing encouragement of some fellow indie authors, I don’t know if I would have taken the leap myself.

Tell us about your upcoming books.

My latest release is book two in the Prophecy Series, Shay’s Acceptance, which released yesterday, September 24. I actually wrote this series for my amazing PA, Shayna. In fact she is the lead female main character. She has been an utter godsend that I was fortunate enough to have found. This series is my first attempt at paranormal, and I loved every minute of it. Actually writing this second book was hard because I knew it was coming to an end, with the last book being set to release on December 1.

I also have my very first anthology coming out in December, with all proceeds going to support the Trevor Project. The Jingle Balls Anthology is filled with some amazing authors. I am so blessed to be a part of it, and it’s set to release on December 1. My submission is called “Love on The Ice” and will complete itself in a full length book set to come out next year.

All the books I’ve written so far are dear to me, because I’ve written them for someone.

Who is your favorite character in your book/series?

I actually think my favorite character is one you have yet to meet. She is part of an anthology and will be released in a full-length series after the anthology is released. Her name is Danica, and she is an assassin for hire.

What is your writing process? Show us a day (or week) in the life.

I try really hard to plot my books out fully; however, my characters have a mind of their own and often go left when they should be going right. I get my prime writing time in at night after my son has gone to bed; that’s the time I have to truly devote to it. Throughout the day while at work you will find me quickly scribbling down ideas as they come to me so I don’t forget them.

What keeps you motivated to write?

The one person who I’ve made an impact on. On days when imposter syndrome hits me, there will be a message that makes its way to me from someone telling me how much they enjoyed what I wrote, how they love it, and that makes me want to give them more.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I’m working, reading or spending time with family.

What subgenres or tropes are your favorites to read?

I love to read everything. If the story is intriguing and pulls me in, then I’m on it. I do prefer why-choose and bully the most though, and give me the dark, crazy character everyone hates because that’s the one I love.

Are you a cat person or a dog person?

Both, but currently I have two cats. My dog babies passed away.

What’s your reading drink and snack of choice?

Coffee, cherry Pepsi, and sour candy or popcorn dipped in nacho cheese.

Where is your perfect reading spot?’

I would love to have a little window nook, but sadly I don’t. So it’s on my couch, curled up with my favorite pillow and throw blanket.

What’s your favorite book / comfort re-read / #1 book you recommend to everyone?

I love so many books, but some of the ones I love to recommend are the Mindfucked series, the Untouchable series, and Surviving Amber Springs.

Who or what has had the most influence on you as a writer?

My family and friends for their support. Other authors for all their help. And obviously the readers.

Where can readers find you online?

You can find me on my Facebook page or my reader group, Bre’s Rose Petal Readers, and I’m on Instagram and TikTok @breroseauthor.
