Author Interview: K.D. Quinn

Tell us about yourself.

Hi, my name is K.D. Quinn, I write paranormal reverse harem on Kindle Vella. I’ve been writing since I was about sixteen. I started off alternating between a western, and fantasies. Strange bedfellows, right?

While I love all sorts of fiction and non-fiction books, there is nothing quite like romance.

My grandmother even willed me all of her bodice rippers. My uncle was blushing as he dropped off box after box of books with scantily clad women and bare-chested men who looked suspiciously like Fabio, on the covers.

Tell us about your most recent book(s).

I released Wolf Mountain last summer, and will be following that up this spring with book two in the series, Wolf Secrets. The books follow heroine Sloane as she flees from a supernatural gang, finding her way along the Pacific Crest Trail. She is helped along the way by a gorgeous hiker- who happens to be wolf shifter. Wolf Mountain is an insta-lust, spicy read.

At the same time, I am writing Bad Bad Witch on Vella. Bad Witch is a slow burn romcom RH filled with growly monsters and a plus sized witch who can’t cast a hex to save her life. I have to admit that this is my favorite thing so far that I’ve written. Lila Umbra is a vulnerable outcast cursed with a unicorn familiar named Walter. Every time I open my laptop to write Lila’s story, I fall under her spell.

I’m already plotting her cousin Veronica Umbra’s story, and an academy spinoff for yet another relative of theirs.

I hope, like me, you can’t get enough of these witches and their monsterous lovers.

What is your writing process?

I try to write daily. Even when I’m not writing, I’m jotting down ideas and digging deeper into my character’s personalities. They are as real to me as the people I help in my full-time job.

Sometimes the clamouring of my characters grows so loudly, I have to grab the nearest writing materials and let them out. The idea of creating entire worlds fascinates me. It’s the act of creation that keeps me motivated. I have more stories to tell, than time to tell them in.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

When I’m not writing and creating, I spend my time going to art shows. Or supporting local music along the Fox River Valley in Illinois. We have some seriously talented people around here.

My favorite things though, are my dogs, my gardens, and sitting outside on the deck in summer with a glass of red wine, and a good book. Mostly paranormal romances, reverse harems, and fantasies. But I won’t say no to a good mystery or thriller. Variety is the spice of life, after all.

What’s your favorite book or #1 recommendation?

Albany Walker’s Friends With The Monsters was my first RH book. I highly recommend it. It was after reading that book, that I decided to try writing my own reverse harem.

Where can readers find you online?

I can be found on Facebook and TikTok, or through my LinkTree.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me. I can’t thank Emery Rachelle enough for the opportunity to be featured on her blog.

May your monsters be delicious, and your shifters be possessive!
