Giveaway! and Review: One Brave Leap

Sticker review (and discount code)!

After creating the new designs for our Persuasion giveaway, Kristen from One Brave Leap sent me all of the new designs to try her stickers myself. Check them out!

Her stickers come in a lot of options, including gold or lilac foil, white or clear backgrounds, glossy or matte surface, and a choice to use waterproof material. Personally, I like the waterproof glossy ones with a white background, but there’s something here for everyone.

If you use a wireless charger for your phone, you’ll be happy to know that (at least with my Samsung Galaxy) putting these stickers on the back of the phone case does not interfere with wireless charging.

If you do order from One Brave Leap, be careful applying stickers with the clear background; you might end up with fingerprints trapped under the surface, similar to handling clear sticky tape. Also, the ink on the non-waterproof stickers will definitely smudge if they get wet (being, ya know, not waterproof). I had a minor accident with a glass of water nearby and learned the hard way, but at least only one sticker got smudged. Whoops.

While I didn’t pay for these stickers, I did place an order for some Jane Eyre stickers after trying these out. The prices are quite reasonable for quality fandom stickers. One Brave Leap sells stickers for a variety of shows and books, like New Girl, Parks and Recreation, North and South, and Pride and Prejudice, as well as motivational quotes and artistic initials.

Make sure to enter the giveaway at the end of this post, but if you don’t win, you can still get a discount shopping at One Brave Leap with the store-wide code “I LOVE AUSTEN” for 20% off. These new Persuasion stickers, designed especially for this giveaway, will be available for purchase in the shop soon.

Disclaimer: a selection of stickers was sent to me for free by One Brave Leap in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

About the shop: One Brave Leap

Tell us about your shop. What do you sell? How long have you been on Etsy?

I’m a one-woman sticker shop. I started making stickers for my friends and co-workers to brighten up their day or make them laugh, and then someone offered to buy one. I’m a creative director for a marketing agency and this is a fun creative release.

What first inspired you to create these items?

I needed to gain some self-confidence. I make them because I need to remind myself of these things daily. I can laugh and see my self in the funny stickers or encourage myself with the quotes. I make my designs to cheer myself along.

What appeals to you about Jane Austen’s writing?

Life is full of missed opportunities, self-doubt, heartache, and pride. But she captures these traits in a way that makes you relate to the characters, even the baddies. Jane Austen is the author that thought me to look beyond what people are saying.

Do you have a favorite Jane Austen book or character?

Book, Pride and Prejudice. Character, Anne Elliot. As I get older, regret and forgiveness have become more important to me. Anne is the perfect embodiment of both. I can relate to her.

What do love about your work?

Making people smile, brighten up their day, making them laugh, helping them see themselves differently.

Do you have a favorite item you’ve created?

I have two. One: the bust of Mr. Darcy from the 2005 Movie. I loved that scene so much. And two: I love the portrait of Elizabeth Bennet. It feels fresh and alive, and I like to think this is the portrait Mr. Darcy would have commissioned for his pocket, not some stuff staged piece. Lizzy. His Lizzy.

About the giveaway

This giveaway is especially fun; shop owner Kristen created seven brand new sticker designs just for us!

The winner will get a variety of all 7 designs, with some in gold foil and color.

The designs include stylized quotes from Persuasion, such as the classic “I am half agony, half hope” romantic proclamation, and Austen’s usual sassy wit in “men have had every advantage of us in telling their own story.”

And then there’s this beautiful watercolor-style image of Anne and Captain Wentworth:
