Campfires. Cinnamon and clove candles. Crunching colored leaves.
The air has finally cooled down in the last few weeks, after a brutal summer. Fall is embracing us.
This was going to be a “welcoming fall” post, but really, the season is halfway past.
I was going to announce release dates and book news, but I am hesitant to commit to any timelines with where my creative projects stand now.
This could be a reading round-up, but I haven’t read nearly as much as I set out to this year. Most of the books I finished were the Lore Olympus series, which I read in one sitting in January.
I could tell you all about my year, and where I’ve been, and why I haven’t posted or written much this year. It’s mostly health related. But I don’t want to talk about that anymore.
So what do I want to tell you?
I have a new job as a stylist in a bridal shop. My book club is reading (or re-reading) my favorite book of all time, Jane Eyre. I could share photos of the tattoo I got this summer, with the artifact and a quote from the video game Baldur’s Gate 3. Or pictures of the kittens I attempted fostering.
In short, I have spent 2025 living life, in spite of my health and the unexpected roadblocks and hard days. After a summer writers’ conference and reorienting myself in my creative worlds, revisiting both why I write and why I write the specific stories and characters that I do… I am softly stepping back into the words and worlds from which I’ve taken so long a break.
When the time is right, I look forward to sharing those words with you.
