Looking Ahead to 2025
With 2024 officially behind us, I (like many others) am looking ahead into 2025. Who do we want to be? What do we want to accomplish? There will be things we can’t see coming, but as much as planning ahead is possible, these are my 2025 intentions…
2025 Plans:
New storefronts
Starting late fall 2024, I have been working on removing my books from the Kindle Unlimited subscription library in order to publish them across other retailers. Assassin’s Kiss, Assassin’s Dilemma, and Assassin’s Disgrace are now live on most platforms, with Crimson Bloom coming up.
All my books will remain available on Amazon for purchase. But this change makes them available on Kobo, Apple Books, Google Books, the Overdrive and Libby library apps, Smashwords, and a variety of other smaller and international platforms. Publishing to the Barnes & Noble website is proving more challenging, but I hope to have all my books available there as well, as soon as I can.
New ebook releases
Assassin’s Heart Series
Assassin’s Journey is drafted, now in the editing stage. If all goes to plan, the ebook will release across all platforms on February 11. Just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Assassin’s Diadem and Assassin’s Heart are on the docket, but do not have release dates scheduled. Tentatively, my current plan is to publish Assassin’s Diadem in summer 2025, and Assassin’s Heart in fall 2025. Depending on how writing goes, this schedule may get a bit delayed to provide for an earlier Scarlet Moon release.
Vyrkola Clan Series
Crimson Bloom is available on Kindle and coming to all other retailers as soon as I can get it live.
Book two, Scarlet Moon, is on my schedule to write in 2025. Release date TBD.
Print books
You may have noticed that my print books have all been taken down from Amazon. This is for exciting update reasons!
The Assassin’s Heart paperbacks are getting a facelift, with new covers to match the original (now restored) ebook covers. Meanwhile, Crimson Bloom has never been available in print yet; that is changing in 2025.
The process of publishing print books is longer and more expensive than the ebook process, so dates and plans are harder to nail down. That said, all four existing books — as well as new 2025 releases — should be available in print in 2025.
2024 Recap:
Writing
2024 was a fallow year in publishing for me, but I wasn’t entirely dormant. Work has progressed on Assassin’s Journey, and gears have been turning behind the scenes to prepare for the changes to my storefront availability, cover updates, and more.
Reading
My Goodreads/Storygraph reading goal for 2024 was lofty and, in hindsight, a bit laughable. I only reached 16%, but 14 books is still more than my total for 2023, and I really savored a lot of them. I call that a win.
Living
A lot happened this year in my personal life. I had major surgery at the end of January, followed by several months of recovery. That time was filled with playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, my first AC game. Following my recovery, I lived with relatives for six weeks while they recovered from a car accident. This summer, I started a new job at a local nonprofit. That kept me very busy through the fall, along with a new health diagnosis. The year wrapped up with a particularly full holiday season.
I won’t keep you longer, lovely readers. Thank you for reading this far.
Whether you celebrated the Solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s Eve, or a combination of the above, I hope you had a happy season of celebrations and good food.
